Welcome 2020/2021

05 August 2020

OUBaC would like to warmly welcome you all to Oxford and to our Club for the 2020/21 season! We know things will be a little different this year, but we’re looking forward to getting back on court as quickly and safely as possible. We aim to provide plenty of opportunities to get involved with the Club through the competitive Squad, the Development Squad, recreational Clubnight, and through your college. For more details about college badminton, please email your captain or ask one of our Committee members. Although we can’t yet say exactly what shape this year will take for us, we’re sure that the Club will remain as strong as ever! We’ll provide, in whatever capacity we can, casual Clubnight badminton, as well as matches for the Squad against local teams, other universities, and the notorious Varsity match against Cambridge! When we’re not on court, OUBaC also organises regular social events for everyone, from nights out to mini-golf! We look forward to meeting you all in the new term!

Trials for the Squad will be held at the end of 0th week and start of first week.

Men: 5:30-7:30pm - Tuesday 13th October - St Gregory the Great Catholic School - Facebook event

Women: 7:00-9:00pm - Monday 12th October - St Gregory the Great Catholic School - Facebook event

Welcome 2019/2020

12 September 2019

OUBaC would like to offer everyone a warm welcome to Oxford for the 2019/2020 season! There will once again be plenty of opportunities to play badminton this year including college badminton, Clubnight and in the Squad. Most colleges will be offering some recreational badminton within college and there will be opportunities to play against other colleges if you fancy a more competitive game. For more details about the badminton in your college, email your captain (a list can be found here) or ask one of the committee. OUBaC also organises its own recreational badminton session, Clubnight. This is a chance for anyone based in Oxford to play some fun, light-hearted badminton and there is always a good game to be had! To find out more about the times that are running check out the sessions list here, find us at the Freshers' Fair or come along to one of the free sessions in 1st week. Those looking to play some competitive badminton might be interested in the Squad. This is an opportunity for some of the best players in the university to represent OUBaC in matches against the local teams, other universities and in the all-important Varsity match. For a chance to join the squad see the information on trials below.

Trials for the squad will be held on the weekend between 0th week and 1st week.

Men: 10:00-13:00 - Saturday 12th October - Magdalen College School - Facebook event

Women: 12:30-14:30 - Sunday 13th October - Iffley Road Sports Centre - Facebook event

Please bring your racket if you have one, but there will be some provided if not. Also, make sure that you arrive before the session begins, as we have a limited amount of time available!

OUBaC Welcome Tournament 2018

17 September 2018

To those who are coming up to Oxford for the first time, welcome! To those returning for another year, welcome back! The Clubnight session on Sunday of 3rd Week (21st October, 13:30-15:30 at Iffley Rd. Sports Centre) will take the form of a fun, team-based tournament and is the perfect opportunity for you to get to know fellow Badminton enthusiasts in a relaxed setting.

The tournament is open to all students and staff within the university. To enter, simply fill out the Google Form here. Guests are most welcome to sign up although in the event of the tournament being oversubscribed, priority will normally be given to OUBaC members.

Teams will be drawn on the day, (hopefully) in such a way that each team has a fair chance of winning.

If you have any queries regarding the tournament, or are experiencing difficulties in signing up, please contact Tom Hadfield (thomas.hadfield@exeter.ox.ac.uk).
